How to install in WordPress
Note: The following instructions are to install Lucky Orange classic in WordPress. Click here to see installation instructions for the new Lucky Orange app.
Lucky Orange can be installed on:
- WordPress.com Business plans
- WordPress.org self-hosted versions
To install with the Lucky Orange plugin:
- Click on Plugins from the main navigation
- Locate the search field at the top of the page
- Search for “Lucky Orange”
- Click the Install Now button
- When asked to continue, select the OK button
- Once installed, click the Activate Plugin link
Next you will be led through the setup process to create your Lucky Orange account or connect it to another account. During this process, you will be shown your account-specific site ID.
To complete the installation process:
- From your Lucky Orange Classic account, navigate to the Settings gear located in the upper right corner
- Copy your site ID. This should show immediately under General settings.
- From your WordPress account, click on Settings.
- You should see a list of settings for things such as General, Writing, Reading and Discussion. Click on Lucky Orange at the end of the list.
- Paste the site ID into the field and select Save Settings.
Users on WordPress.org can also visit the Lucky Orange page in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory.
To manually install:
- Copy your Lucky Orange tracking code
- Navigate to the Settings gear located in the upper right corner of your Lucky Orange Classic account
- Click on Tracking Code
- Highly the entire text and copy the provided tracking code by right-clicking your mouse over the text or using the copy keyboard command (ctrl+C for Windows; command+C for Apple)
- From your WordPress account, click on Plugins from the main navigation
- Locate the search field at the top of the page
- Search for “Simple Custom CSS and JS.” This is a free third-party plugin that will enable you to modify your theme or plugin files.
- Once installed, click the Activate Plugin link. When the plugin is activated, you’ll be redirected to your Plugins page
- From your Plugins page, select Settings under Simple Custom CSS and JS
- Click the Add HTML Code button from the top of the page
- Select the Edit button, located to the right of the Permalink.
- Highlight the entire text and paste your Lucky Orange tracking code in the text box; this will delete the rest of the placeholder text.
- Click the red Save button near the upper right corner
